When Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea, in the days of King Herod, behold, magi from the east arrived in Jerusalem, saying, “Where is the newborn king of the Jews? We saw his star at its rising and have come to do him homage.” When King Herod heard this, he was greatly troubled, and all Jerusalem with him. Assembling all the chief priests and the scribes of the people, he inquired of them where the Messiah was to be born. They said to him, “In Bethlehem of Judea, for thus it has been written through the prophet:
‘And you, Bethlehem, land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah; since from you shall come a ruler,
who is to shepherd my people Israel.’”Matthew 2: 1-6
Looking up at them I wonder, “Would I have followed the star?”
There are so many stars to gaze upon.
Some brighter than others.
How did the Magi know which one to follow?
(Perhaps I may have felt more confident had I earned that Astronomy badge in Girl Scouts.)
Some say this is why they were considered the three Wise men.
These men were wise indeed, not because they knew ‘which star to follow,’ but because they were seeking after Christ!
What could we better do in this world than to seek after Christ? The wise men thought all other pursuits of small account compared with this.
The search to worship Jesus Christ is all out of proportion to anything else we may do in life.
And quite simply – makes you want to sing from the rooftops, “Come follow along, too!”
And these men were wise men because they refused to worship empty-handed.
After their audience with the king they set out. And behold, the star that they had seen at its rising preceded them, until it came and stopped over the place where the child was. They were overjoyed at seeing the star, and on entering the house they saw the child with Mary his mother. They prostrated themselves and did him homage. Then they opened their treasures and offered him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. Matthew 2: 9-11
Everyone knows that gifts have something to do with Christmas; but, after that, there is often times mass confusion. However, if we read the Christmas story carefully, we find that the wise men did not exchange gifts with one another. They gave gifts to Christ.
The lesson here is that true recognition of Jesus Christ will ever be attended by the spontaneous surrender of our best to Him!
And this gives us much to sing about!

Many people have a very personal relationship with their religious beliefs…you provide your personal feelings without imposing them on the reader. This opens the door to people with various religious beliefs. This is important, because it helps people understand the role religion and spirituality has in people’s lives. We are a better world when we understand how small we are individually, yet how powerful we are when we combine our spiritual efforts to better mankind.

Your kind compliment means more than you know. I’ve always felt our faith ‘relationship’ is like opening a gift. A gift meant EXPRESSLY for the receiver. How disappointing it would be for ANOTHER to open the gift not intended for them. Both individuals would miss out & be robbed from an authentic experience. We must experience faith for ourselves – in order that it may take up residence in our heart. Certainly, I can ‘borrow’ someone else’s shoes but they will not fit me the same as they whose foot it has conformed to. I can also spend a restful night in someone else’s home, but it will still not be as restorative as a night slept in the comfort of my own bed.
God offers all of us a very special gift – uniquely designed for each one of us. All we need to do is be willing to receive it & then spend the rest of our lives experiencing the joy which comes from unwrapping it daily! Hugs and sincere blessings for your continual encouragement and support….it always seems to be delivered exactly when I need it the most. (I am highly suspicious you are one of His angels in disguise!👼🏻)
