He saw us.

“Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.

Psalm 139:16

We celebrate our birthdays as the day that our fully formed body came into the world and we breathed our first breath.

Birthdays mark the beginning of our lives, but in this Scripture, God was celebrating us long before our birthday!

He saw us before we were even formed; he knew that we were destined for life, even before that first breath.

What an amazing God we have, who is not only all-knowing, but ever personal.

Take courage and strength from the truth that you were destined from the beginning and you have a wonderful purpose!

No matter how you have judged that image in the mirror staring back at you before, no matter how little or plenty self-esteem you may possess, no matter rejected or rejoiced over, and whatever you may be about to face in your day – hold your head high and remember the One who created you for such a time as this.

The knowledge of God’s total attention on you can change the way you step into your day.

And into the fullness of who you are!

Because

He saw us!

In His image.

In His likeness.

He saw us first.

Can we even begin to handle the enormity of that knowledge?

I’m going to try.

  4. This is so beautiful, Dawn. And the song 🎶 💚❤️💕 I’ve been reading a devotion about purpose. I used to “tie” my purpose to what I DID~job, circumstances, motherhood, etc…and that led to confusion when those had endings in a way. I’m to bloom where I’m planted at this very moment! And my purpose is to spread his love and accept his grace wherever I am or whatever I’m doing. It’s because of WHOSE I am. Just like you and everyone else~made in his image~lives by grace. Thank you for oozing with his joy and love 💕
