the Mission

I like talking to God.

I could not admit this to most people because what would they think? So instead I will just put it out here on social-media where no one will ever know. (Giggles.)

During the COVID-pandemic it took me a short-while to tune out the perpetual media-saturation – but once I broke free – the reassuring whisper of His voice could be found, once again.

Has anyone else been hearing God more (clearly) during this period of our Country’s COVID- isolation?

I have been in awe that while the world is shouting...He still peacefully whispers.

Likewise, while the fear-mongers incessantly chatter, He speaks but limited Words. Which is always far more resounding to me, like a deafening gong, piercing through it all. Moreover, everything that He offers leads to one thing…

I love you.

And so begins my daily Mission. To listen for this sweet phrase, as often as I can.

Through the worldly noise. Through the disappointment. Through the struggle. Through the difference of what our lives are becoming.

The world is changing.

Our lives are all changing.

To live is to change, and to be perfect is to have changed often.

Saint John Henry Newman

Will I seek to use my time as a means of becoming His perfection?

Saint Newman had a beautiful prayer about one’s Mission – and I’m striving to live this prayer out, on my own – as a means of whispering back to God…

“I love you, too.”

The Mission of my Life

Saint John Henry Newman

God has created me to do Him some definite service.

He has committed some work to me which He has not committed to another.

I have my mission.

I may never know it in this life, but I shall be told it in the next.

I am a link in a chain, a bond of connection between persons.

He has not created me for naught.

I shall do good; I shall do His work.

I shall be an angel of peace, a preacher of truth in my own place, while not intending it if I do but keep His commandments.

Therefore, I will trust Him, whatever I am, I can never be thrown away.

If I am in sickness, my sickness may serve Him, in perplexity, my perplexity may serve Him. If I am in sorrow, my sorrow may serve Him. He does nothing in vain.

He knows what He is about.

He may take away my friends. He may throw me among strangers. He may make me feel desolate, make my spirits sink, hide my future from me.

Still, He knows what He is about.

hugs n’ blessings to all those daring to change once again.

One final thought:

When you finally see yourself as God sees you, I promise you will recognize the talents and abilities you have been blessed with and start operating in the fullness of those gifts.

At which point – when our time here on earth is complete – we may hope to have others whisper, “See how much they loved Him.”

  1. What a beautiful post and with such perception and TRUTH. He has allowed in this time of crisis circumstances that will gain our undivided attention. This I honestly believe. What a time indeed to turn off and tune out of all other voices but His What His is saying is indeed life=changing and motivational. Every moving forward His Kingdom is advancing now more so than ever. You are indeed dearly LOVED. XX
