On the third day there was a marriage at Cana in Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there; Jesus also was invited to the marriage, with his disciples. When the wine failed, the mother of Jesus said to him, “They have no wine.” And Jesus said to her, “O woman, what have you to do with me? My hour has not yet come.” His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.”
Now six stone jars were standing there, for the Jewish rites of purification, each holding twenty or thirty gallons. Jesus said to them, “Fill the jars with water.” And they filled them up to the brim.
John 2:1-7
I recently assisted a friend with choosing their grave-marker the other day. And while I was honored to have been at his side I discovered it is not an easy task to walk through.
However, I would not have wished to have done it any…other…way.
Cuppycake and I are also beginning to consider our own pre-planning process, but as far as my own grave marker goes – my entire family already knows there shall be no exceptions made in terms of John 2:5 being inscribed upon it.
John 2: 5 has been the bible passage which has guided me most of my life. Quite humorously I can now say, “most of my life” because I have indeed lived long enough to say so!
(Which explains the recent consideration for the pre-planning process.)
Giggles.
Attempting to live a life centered on this passage – where Mary instructs the servants to “Do whatever he tells you” – is also not an easy task to walk through.
Trust me, I have failed miserably at times!
However, yet again, I would not have wished to have done so any…other…way.
I appreciate knowing, as Mary said, that…
God’s Word is His Word!
And we are to do as He instructs.
We do not have the luxury of picking and choosing.
Sacred Scripture is not a menu in the cafeteria line of life.
But thankfully, I am not the one to prove this to anyone!
There will be a time for One who will.
Until then I shall JOYfully remain focused on filling myself to the brim, giving Him as much of myself as I can, each day.
Is there more room in your jar of clay for Him, today?
hugs n’ blessings to all those seeking to follow the Truth...because they wouldn’t wish to do it any…other…way.
Thank you. We too have made our preparations so we can give thanks to God for our life and His Presence. I have arranged for a simple casket and hope all attendees will stick butterflies everywhere on it. . My symbol of NEW LIFE in Christ is known by all the family. and friends. My Book SHAFTS of GOLD has just been published. I pray God in its simple story of a little girl’s desire to KNOW for herself if God is real will encourage others to find THE WAY He has enabled me to finish. JOY indeed!

Faye, what a beautiful gesture to have the butterflies… I have read your testimony before and it is a true “flutter” of His love wrapped around you. The butterflies would be most fitting, indeed. Congratulations on the newly published book! Hugs to you for all the JOY you are sharing of your love for Him in your written stories. 😘
