Thou art my hiding place and my shield: I hope in thy word.
Psalm 119:114

If you’ve recently had the chance for a quick getaway, you know what a blessing it can be to take in a new setting, to get a break from the busyness of the everyday hustle and bustle. Sometimes, the refreshment can last you quite a while; other times it evaporates on the drive home.

Most times, even getting away for a weekend just can’t be done. The question becomes, How can I be refreshed in the middle of all that I have to do today? David offered a solution: God’s Word! (Psalm 119:114 at the top of this post!) You may not be able to go out of town or even go camping, but scripture can be your hiding place, a refuge of hope and rejuvenation when life is spinning madly around you.

Reading the Bible enables you to look beyond your circumstances and rest. “Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, and whose hope is the Lord.” (Jeremiah 17:7). After all, no matter where you are, your “soul finds rest in God” (Psalm 62:1), and “those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength” (Isaiah 40:31).
A spa day or fishing trip is great, but God’s Word gives deep refreshing no matter where you are.
Lord, I need help remembering to carve out space in my schedule just to be with You and to study Your Word. Help me, Lord. Amen.
hugs n’ blessings for the many road trips taken…and the passengers who join along!
Beautiful post with great pictures. A terrific Message! Thank You!
