fun run

TRUE THAT!!!

EXCEPT

when you’re running with the Nuns!

True to its name, Our Lady of Solitude Monastery is deep in the Sonoran desert and affords the nuns much solitude and silence. This is the first cloistered, contemplative monastery in the Diocese of Phoenix, providing local Catholics with a place of pilgrimage, prayer, and Eucharistic Adoration.

It truly is an oasis in the desert!

Visiting there, praying with, and sharing liturgy with these holy women is always a highlight of our stay in Arizona.

But this year we were able to run with them too!

*Well, truthfully the Sisters never ran; however, Cuppycake & I were amazing speed-walkers!

(But most important we were ALL there TOGETHER for the same cause.)

The Nun Run is an annual fundraising event to support Our Lady of Solitude Monastery and the Poor Clares of Perpetual Adoration. We loved that this race was for the novice runner and the competitive racer alike.

It was a wonderful family-friendly event!

This was the 15th Annual Nun Run for the Monastery which is their biggest annual fundraiser… and this year’s was the most successful to date, selling out for the first time ever!

“In reality Clare’s whole life was a eucharist because, like Francis, from her cloister she raised up a continual ‘thanksgiving’ to God in her prayer, praise, supplication, intercession, weeping, offering and sacrifice. She accepted everything and offered it to the Father in union with the infinite ‘thanks’ of the only-begotten Son, the Child, the Crucified, the risen One, who lives at the right hand of the Father.”
– from Letter of Pope St. John Paul II for the 8th Centenary of the Birth of St. Clare of Assisi

Doesn’t every Catholic race offer confessions before and after the run?!🤣

I do it all for the sake of the gospel, so that I may share in its blessings. Do you not know that in a race the runners all compete, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may win it.

1 Corinthians 9:23-24

Mark your calendars!

As perhaps next year you’ll want to run the race with us, too!

hugs n’ blessings for all those seeking to cross the finish line!
