New Year Delivery!

Oh, me! Oh, my!

In a few days I will have been blogging for two years.

I remember sitting on my god-daughter’s couch as she navigated me through the steps of setting up a Word Press account.  I was fascinated by the possibilities. I marveled at all the choices.  And I was over-whelmed at the potential enormity of it all!

Was I even really certain I wanted to do this?

What really is blogging anyway?

Would God be pleased with this?

Yes Lord, I am listening.

Then finally, once you have made the commitment,  the ultimate question while your are setting up your site is:

What do I call it?

My god-daughter can attest it was after several rejected attempts, by site addresses already chosen, that I threw my hands up in the air and typed in my normal salutaion used for ending all my correspondences:

h u g s n’ b l e s s i n g s

Then magically .com was attached and with that

 hugsnblessings.com was born.

I really believed when I first began it would simply be, “just a course I took to be more confident in myself, to become more comfortable with computers and also learn to journal electronically.”

The more I learned the more my bloggity-blog evolved.

But essentially the purpose has remained the same.

I write for me.

And for that ONE other person who might read my post a particular day and continue the ripple of life I attempt to share.

“Remember there’s no such thing as a small act of kindness.  Every act creates a ripple with no logical end.” -Scott Adams

Because I’ve always considered life to be an extension of one person to another, this is why my blog is merely an extension of me to you, my reader.  A simplton’s electronic journal, who writes on subjects that are dear to me; and are the very things you’d find if you were ever to catch a glimpse into my hand-written ones…

 faith, family, and friends.

All sprinkled of course with curious questions and a lot of giggles!

(Because who can really take life so seriously, after all?)

Try not to giggle…I dare you!

So, as we all wrap up another calendar year and I approach the close of a blogging year, what have I learned? What will I take into the next year with me?  What will I shed and leave behind? And what new things are waiting just around the corner for me, in this exciting start of “new”ness?

Whatever the answers may be I can tell you they are each filled with hope.

For I know my God has taught me much.

I know I will carry this wisdom forward with me.

I know He directs me to leave the past behind.

And

I know He is constantly calling me to holiness.

How exciting it is, to yet again stand on the edge of another year about to begin, waiting to discover what is about to be delivered…

“There is no time with God:  A thousand years, a single day:  it is all one (2Peter 3:8).

Finally, I know at some point today I will do the same thing I do most years this New Year’s Eve.

I will spend some quiet time alone with my God.

I will ask him to reveal the answers to some of these questions and I will pray to hear him in the quietness of my heart.

And in the ensuing weeks, if He desires; I will share with you

what He has said,

where He is potentially leading me,

and all the wonderful laughter my God & I will have hopefully shared; regarding this past-year’s missteps!

giggles…

I do so verily hope you will take the time to ask and hear him too.

And may there be hugs n’ blessings attached, to all  your answers delivered!

PSalm 90

O Lord, you have been our refuge from one generation to the next.  Before the mountains were born or the earth or the world brought forth, you are God, without beginning or end.

You turn men back into dust and say: “Go back, sons of men.” To your eyes a thousand years are like yesteday, come and gone, no more than a watch in the night.

You sweep men away like a dream, like grass which springs up in the morning.  In the morning it springs up and flowers: by evening it withers and fades.

In the morning, fill us with your love; we shall exult and rejoice all our days.  GIve us joy to balance our affliction for the years when we knew misfortune.

Show forth your work to your sevants; let your glory shine on their children.  Let the favor of the Lord be upon us: give success to the work of our hands, give success to the work of our hands.

  2. You intertwine humor and spirituality in a beautiful way. It gives the reader a chance to smile AND think in the same moment. Your angel may look like the picture, but only for brief moments. The rest of the time, she is likely smiling AT YOU! Hoping 2017 brings all the joys and pleasures you and your family deserve.

  4. I love how in God’s world there is no time, yet here on earth we count the seconds, minutes, days years etc……Why are we all in such a hurry???? Why can’t we wait on God to lead everything we do? Often we are in such a hurry that we make bad choices where if we had waited we would have been lead by our almighty and all knowing Father. What I am trying to say is in Psalm 46:10 He says, “Be still, and know that I am God.”
