good to meet you

Over 4 ft. green-apple gum-ropes and fireball candies.

That’s how we met.

Mid 1970’s during a high-school baseball game at a snack stand.

Every game thereafter we’d saunter down to the snack stand together during the 7th inning stretch.

And the rest, as they say, is history.

A lot of time has passed since then and our friendship has branched out from the ball park accompanying our shared faith & family life.

How truly blessed we are to have such a long-lasting friendship together.

Where candy continues to (still) be included!

Here’s to another great year together, dear friend!

(Isn’t it wonderful???? No one can believe how old you are.)

A friend loves at all times.

Proverbs 17:17

Which friend do you need to remind how much you love them?

hugs n’ blessings to all those celebrating life-long friendships!

song of the open road

We made it!

With a song in our heart and a whole lot of giggles we arrived safely to our POD.

Tenderly, as we drove those many miles, excerpts from an old Walt Whitman poem danced playfully through my heart and my head.

Song of the Open Road

(Excerpts)

BY WALT WHITMAN

1
Afoot and light-hearted I take to the open road,
Healthy, free, the world before me,
The long brown path before me leading wherever I choose.

Henceforth I ask not good-fortune, I myself am good-fortune,
Henceforth I whimper no more, postpone no more, need nothing,
Done with indoor complaints, libraries, querulous criticisms,
Strong and content I travel the open road.

2
You road I enter upon and look around, I believe you are not all that is here,
I believe that much unseen is also here.

3
You air that serves me with breath to speak!
You objects that call from diffusion my meanings and give them shape!
You light that wraps me and all things in delicate equable showers!
You paths worn in the irregular hollows by the roadsides!
I believe you are latent with unseen existences, you are so dear to me.
