Can We Talk?

Alone we can do so little.
Together we can do so much.

Helen Keller

Laverne & Shirley – Lucy & Ethel – Betty & Veronica – Thelma & Louise

As individuals, we possess unique skills, perspectives, and talents. When we come together, we tap into a pool of diverse ideas, experiences, and expertise that can propel us towards accomplishing far more than we could on our own. The support and assistance we receive from loved ones can provide the backbone needed to overcome challenges and achieve personal growth.

For where there are two or three gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

Matthew 18:20

We all have moments in our lives when we could use a bit of divine guidance. Whether it’s for spiritual growth, finding more purpose in life, or simply learning how to be more present and mindful – having spiritual companions or mentors can be a great source of support and understanding.

Mary & Martha – Elizabeth & The Blessed Virgin Mary – Sarah & Hagar

Oh, the comfort – the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person – having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words, but pouring them all right out, just as they are, chaff & grain together; certain that a faithful hand will take & sift them, keep what is worth keeping, and then with the breath of kindness, blow the rest away.

Dinah Maria Mulock Craik (1866)

What do women talk about?

Women’s conversation starts in the middle, goes to the beginning, and doesn’t have an end. We stop talking as we part and pick-up right where we left off when we meet again.

Big things and little things: God, Country, world peace, children, grand-children, food, art, money, love, work, good books, great movies and men for starters.

Talking to our girlfriends cheers us up and makes us feel connected.

We went to lunch. We tried on hats. We went to camp. We lip synced. We laughed soooooo hard. We went shopping. We kept secrets. We played hopscotch. We lay in the sun. We went dancing. We had tea. We wore leg-warmers. Our hair was big & voluminous. We sang in the car. We ate french fries. We borrowed clothes. We cruised the dock for guys. We went to Weddings. We shared our sorrows. We prayed together. We celebrated births. We supported through illness. We gathered around gravesides.

I couldn’t say what my girlfriends have meant to me in just a couple of sentences, but I do know their presence in my life has helped to form me into the woman I am today & because of that – I shall carry each of them forever in my heart.

Have you told your friends how much they mean to you lately?

  2. Hello, my friend! I have not seen you all summer! I ride my bike by and ring my little bike bell as I pedal past.
I am not walking as much as my hip is getting replaced in November, but I do bike around Lakeside.
You are a beautiful blessing, and I am happy to know you both virtually and in person.🩷
