the “M” word!

it’s the monday giggles….

A few months ago a little bit of “fluff” started showing up around the hips…unexpectedly.

Nothing drastic, but enough to cause me some personal uncomfortableness.

Along with the fluff came some very unusual feelings, as well.  Often accompanied by an inferno setting up residence in my body!

Finally,  having enough of this unusual “fluff & feelings,”  I sought medical answers.

As many more mature females who are reading may have already suspected, the Dr’s diagnosis was of a hormonal nature.  The dreaded “M” word was mentioned, which was later confirmed with further diagnostic testing.

Indeed, I’d entered the “fun” phase of femininity….menopause.

WTF = Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot. But really, Sam Elliot???????? Photo from Pinterest.

So compassionate was my doctor when the diagnosis was confirmed she offered her time to further discuss solutions for my most pervasive symptoms.   During my follow-up appointment she suggested we discuss the top three symptoms I was experiencing and strategize how best to address them.  She sweetly explained there were many pharmaceutical aides which she would be willing to prescribe to assist me in getting the hormones back in order; however, I felt very confident, I sheepishly explained, that I really only wanted to discuss one invasive menopausal matter.

It was really quite simple….

“How do I address the feeling of wanting to punch everyone in the face?”

After a healthy giggle my appointment ended shortly thereafter.

In all seriousness,

in typical fashion, I had already sought out a fun solution to the situation I currently found myself and my good-natured Doctor gave her stamp of approval to simply try it out!

I’d discovered that how you react to menopause will depend on many things but a negative attitude is never recommended.  And so I decided to embrace the roller-coaster of emotions which accompany the “M” word and prescribed my own healthy way of strapping in for the hot-flash-ridden ride!

My first gloves from Level Red boxing!

There’s a fairly new form of exercise being embraced in our local community, Level Red Boxing and after some personal investigating I was able to confirm that yes, at Level Red Boxing, they trust menopausal woman with a pair of their own boxing gloves!!

I’ve been boxing for a few months now but noticed the positive affects almost immediately!  The extra fluff is almost all gone and now; when those unusual roller-coaster of emotions arise, I have the perfect way to release them positively!

And the unexpected bonus with Level Red Boxing has been: when you’re looking to celebrate the great results you’ve had – they let you bring friends with you to add to the fun!

and less of what you’re against

it’s a 3hugs&blessings thursday and these are for the 3 subtle ways in which…

He has formed me.

And I do so verily pray you may be equally encouraged when you read them too!

“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; even as I have loved you, that you also love one another.” John 13:34

“…Which commandment is the first of all?”  Jesus answered, “The first is, ‘Hear O Israel:  The Lord our God, the Lord is one; and you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.’  The second is this, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’  There is no other commandment greater than these.”  Luke 12:28-31

“Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you.  Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be afraid.” John 14:27
