love hurts

I’m hurting.

I’ve been hurting for a fairly long time now.

And it’s not just because I’m heartbroken.

It’s not because I’ve been lied to for several years.

It’s not because of the secrets.

And those who kept them.

It’s not because of the betrayal.

And all the many who stay silent.

Or even those who continue to support the matter today.

Most especially it’s not because of the judgement.

It’s because of the love.

The love I have for others.

But mostly, the love I hold for Him.

There was a scholar of the law who stood up to test Jesus and said, “Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?” Jesus said to him, “What is written in the law? How do you read it?” He said in reply, “You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your being, with all your strength, and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.’ He replied to him, “You have answered correctly; do this and you will live.”

Luke 10:25-28

I love Him so much!

And I hurt greatly because I know that my hurt fails in comparison to His own.

“If My death on the cross does not convince you of My love, what will convince you?”

— Jesus to St. Faustina

Because, He always knew.

While I had the grace of naivety, He knew straight-way what has been happening.

Jesus wept.

John 11:35

Undoubtedly, there is so much hurt in the world right now.

Pick most any topic; which currently saturates the news cycle, and you can easily apply my words of hurt to the circumstance.

Whatever the hurt or wherever it may come from, I pray to remember:

We were given THIS LIFE because we are STRONG ENOUGH to live it.

For to this end we toil and strive, because we have our hope set on the living God, who is the Savior of all men, especially of those who believe.

1 Timothy 4:10

The Bible offers many valuable verses on finding strength for hard times and encouraging our faith when we feel despair. Satan’s goal is to make us feel weak, useless and ultimately to destroy us and those we love. Yet, EVERYDAY we can fight these attacks with the truths of Scripture!

Because we have a loving God who aches to teach us!

Command and teach these things.

1 Timothy 4:11

Indeed….

Morals may change.

Churches may change.

Societies may change.

People may change.

Nations may change.

But God’s Word remains the same!

For ever, O Lord, thy Word is firmly fixed int the heavens.

Psalm 119:89

No exceptions.

He said what He said.

In that (alone) I find my hope & restore my peace.

i held out hope.

Our great desire is that you will keep on loving others as long as life lasts, in order to make certain that what you hope for will come true. Hebrews 6:11

Celebrating a recent anniversary, doing the things we enjoy together.

Lifelong love is harder than it sounds.

There’s a reason why many marriages and relationships don’t last. Love requires vulnerability, and this invites the possibility of being hurt.

You may have experienced hurt from having loved someone, but you have probably also experienced the unconditional love of others.
