let it rain

For the past several years Cuppycake and I have been blessed to spend time, during winter, in one of our favorite locations – Scottsdale, Arizona.

This year has been unlike others in that we noticed straight away how incredibly green the desert mountains are due to the unusual amount of rain they’ve received.

Because of this the locals are all abuzz over the high probability that this will trigger what is known as a SUPER BLOOM season!

And they anticipate this may be triggered any week now!!

It’s wildflower season and conditions this year may be just right to bring “super blooms” to life in parts of California and the southwestern USA.

Super blooms are a relatively rare floral phenomenon, even in places renowned for vibrant native wildflowers. As an example the last spectacular super bloom displays recorded in Death Valley were in 2016, 2005, and 1998.

But after a winter of extremely heavy rain, who knows!!!

Though a super bloom is not guaranteed I have been hearing nightly news reports that officials are “cautiously optimistic in expecting a ‘good’ to ‘better than average’ wildflower bloom in late winter and spring seasons.”

Even my blogging-friend at Two Trails One Road is optimistic it may happen!!

While super blooms are generally confined to desert areas of California, Nevada and Arizona, they’re not the only places where you can spot wildflowers in bloom. Drought-free winters typically result in pockets of bright flowers popping up in destinations across the United States, starting in February in desert landscapes and lasting until fall in alpine climates.

Which means we may be doubly-blessed to see not only a super-bloom in the desert, but an abundant amount of wild flowers in the North-East when we return home!

Even if the highly-suspected super bloom does not occur I must say there has been amazing beauty, (not restricted to the great-outdoors only,) surrounding me during this year’s stay!

hugs n’ blessings for all the beauty blooming near you, too!!

    1. 🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼 It’s beginning to explode up here! And yes, I had a few special gals come over for a long-weekend. We had a grand time even though we did not have the more pleasant temperatures that we are experiencing now. However, they returned to snow covered landscapes so despite the chill AZ was a much welcomed improvement!🙌🏻
