The Lion

If you are attacked by a lion:

Find fresh underpants,

lay on the ground quite still,

pretend you are very ill,

keep like that day after day,

perhaps the lion will go away.

by Spike Milligan

“It’s the circle of life, and it moves us all, through despair and hope, through faith and love.  Till we find our place, on the path unwinding. In the circle, the circle of life! “

Pumpkin

We bought a fat orange pumpkin
The plumpest sort they sell.
We neatly scooped the inside out
And only left the shell.
We carved a funny funny-face
Of silly shape and size,
A pointy nose, a jagged mouth
And two enormous eyes.
We set it in a window
And we put a candle in,
Then lit it up for all to see
Our jack-o’lantern grin.

He has created us anew in Christ Jesus,

so we can do the good things

He planned for us long ago.”

“The lovely flowers embarrass me,
They make me regret I am not a bee –”
~Emily Dickinson, 1864

“For flowers that bloom about our feet;

For tender grass, so fresh, so sweet;

For song of bird, and hum of bee;

For all things fair we hear or see,

Father in heaven, we thank Thee!”

Ralph Waldo Emerson

Hush now, as our gardens prepare to go to sleep…

“Bloom where you are planted!”

The Bishop of Geneva, Saint Francis de Sales (1567-1622) is credited with the quote, “bloom where you are planted.” Later Mary Engelbreit made the phrase popular.
